Earlier today, we talked with a student in a free consultation right before she enrolled in private lessons to get the scores required by the National Board of Pharmacy. Her Score History for the TOEFL iBT looks like this:
Jaime and Jade are ready to look at your Score History in a free consultation. The link is below.
If you’re in a similar situation, you need to know that until you start studying the right things and get feedback from a professional, you could be stuck with fluctuating scores for years.
The ESA Method for TOEFL iBT is a systematic approach to developing automatic reactions in the test so that you score your minimums. Most of our students need R23+ L23+ S26+ W24+
In our lessons, you learn how to retrain any old grammar and vocabulary mistakes — so that you spontaneously speak and write with accurate English. It not only raises your TOEFL iBT score, but it also improves your English in the rest of your life. And of course we’ll also focus on your Reading and Listening scores.
“How do I know that these classes are for me?”
These classes are a good choice for you if you have any of the following characteristics:
You need help with all 4 sections of TOEFL iBT
Your current TOEFL score is 75-90 and you ultimately need Speaking 26
You want to study with a professional teacher — not a general English teacher, or a family friend who knows less about TOEFL than you do
These classes are NOT a good choice for you if you meet any of the following:
You don’t have at least 10 hours a week to study according to a plan
Your deadline is coming so soon (before February 2020) that you’re super stressed out about it — because high levels of stress inhibit learning and mastery
You only need help with Speaking or accent neutralization
“I’m on the “NOT” a good choice list… What should I do?”
If you don’t have at least 10 hours a week to study, talk with your boss. Figure out how to make time. Seriously. What is really your priority?
If your deadline is coming soon, would you give up completely and change careers? Or does your career matter enough to you that you’ll keep working on it? If you care enough about your career goals to postpone your dream, then keep reading.
“What will I study?”
You’ll study The 12 Topics curriculum for TOEFL iBT. It builds the foundation for Speaking 26. You’ll follow the same curriculum that Jaime Miller has been teaching in the group presentations for The 12 Topics. The only difference is that you’ll be the only student in class, and the speed of classes is slowed down to a more comfortable pace, so you have more time to do homework and practice the concepts from class.
Complete details are on our website. Briefly: You’ll have 1 class about Reading and Listening, 4 classes about Writing, and 7 classes about Speaking for TOEFL iBT.
Each class is 3 hours, so you get 36 hours (or 48 hours) total of private lessons. After each class, you will be assigned specific homework activities (and yes, you also get feedback on your homework).
Plus, you’ll have a 15-minute weekly phone call to talk with your teacher and answer any questions that you have about how to finish your homework.
“Who will be my teacher?”
Jade Mapp is a California native. She has a BA in English, a certificate for teaching English as a Foreign Language, and experience tutoring for stressful exams like SAT / ACT and the TOEFL iBT test. She recently moved back from New York to California. She teaches the same curriculum for The ESA Method that Jaime Miller teaches in The 12 Topic classes.
“Can I meet The ESA Team before I start lessons?”
Absolutely! Just contact Audrey at firstname.lastname@example.org or text her (916) 620-1116 and give her your information so that she can set up a consultation.
“How much time do I need to study?”
You need at least 10-15 hours a week total because you have to finish homework. Classes with Jade Mapp are 3 hours per week.
“What are the days and times of classes?”
Your private lesson class meets for 3 hours (180 minutes) one day each week.
We have 3 openings right now.
We still have openings on these days:
We are in California, so in our time zone, Jade can teach you between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Sorry! We currently don’t offer classes on Saturday or Sunday — or before or after the times listed above.
You can start the week of August 26 if you register and have your Technology Orientation session and finish your practice test by Thursday, August 22. Your classes would continue till December 2019 or January 2020.
“What kind of homework will I get?”
Each week, Jade will assign you specific homework activities from The ESA Method that will develop skills and confidence in all 4 sections of TOEFL iBT. You’ll complete dozens of realistic TOEFL iBT activities.
She’ll check your homework and give you feedback on your strengths and weaknesses. If you’re making mistakes, she’ll explain what they are, and how to fix them.
“How long do I need to get my target scores?”
Every student is different. Your situation is unique. We need to meet you before we can even start guessing about how many months you need. Please contact us for a free consultation to get a clearer answer.
